Clips: Heavenly Sword Video Blitz
With the news that Heavenly Sword will be hitting shelves September 16, PS3 owners have reason to rejoice. Having just purchased a PS3 myself yesterday (more on that later), I downloaded the demo for HS and it looks and feels absolutely amazing. The controls feel very God of War-ish and the visuals are beautiful. And of course, Nariko and her moves are hot, hot, hot. I mean come on, even I think she’s hot so that’s really saying something.
You can see more of Nariko and her badassness after the jump!
Rumor: Sega Game Lineup for TGS
Website Xbox 360 Rally has managed to get their hands on what seems to be an authentic list of Sega’s offerings for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Hilights include Shenmue 3, Nights: Journey of Dreams, House of the Dead 4 and Space Channel 5 part 3 (ok, so maybe I’m the only one excited about that).
We don’t know from whence this list game but the Xbox 360 Rally folks seem to think it’s a pretty reliable source. So I guess what I’m saying here is, if it turns out not to be true, send your angry emails to them, not us. Thanks.
Make the jump to check out the (supposedly true) full list of Sega’s TGS roster.

Weekend Note: Weekend Note: Dog Tired
To: Ash
From: Flynn
Subject: The end of days
Ahoy! Just got back from Comic Con and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have been on the road since the beginning of July and between Comic Con, E3 and traveling all over California, I’m just about at the end of my tether. I miss my bed and my dog and I really really want to wash my clothes. I just wore my last clean T-shirt today so I’ll be digging into the swag tees for the plane ride home.
Some things you may have missed this weekend:
McWhertor and I have a friendly spirited debate about cosplay
Wal-mart and TRU have ads showing a 360 price drop
The MGS Anniversary Collection may be coming to the US
Well, I hope you had a great weekend, I am going to go sleep off Comic Con and tend to my toe which I think I may have broken. I’ll be back in Atlanta on Tuesday finally putting an end to the traveling blues. Goodnight!
New Games: Week in Games: Mario Strikers Charged Edition

Here’s some highlights of this week’s game offerings. Although I’m not big into sports games, I really want to try Mario Strikers Charged. something about Princess Peach in a sports bra makes me curious, don’t ask me why.

Brave Story: New Traveler (PSP)
A new RPG based on the Brave Story movie.
Glory Days 2 (DS)

Attack on Pearl Harbor (PC)
Play as the U.S. or Japan for the first time in a Pearl Harbor based game.
Picross DS (DS)
Solve puzzles to create pixelated pictures.
Pet Alien (DS)
The next best thing to Pet Rock: The Game!
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars (MAC) C&C TW gives the Mac some love.
Battlefield 2142 (MAC)
It’s a good week to be a mac gamer!
Comic Con 07: The Littlest Chocobo
Busty Booth Babes vs homemade costumes aside, I think even Mr. Mc Whertor will have to agree that this is just about the cutest thing seen on the Comic Con floor. No doubt this is a store bought costume, but it doesn’t take any points of the cuteness factor. Chocobo costume + baby=WIN!

Clip: Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground Video Editor Trailer
How many times have you been playing Tony Hawk’s and pulled off some killer moves that no one would actually believe you did and wanted to make a video of it just to prove it? Ok, well I haven’t either, but I’m sure someone has and for them, this will be a dream come true. Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground will feature a new video editor that will allow you to record all those sweet ollies and Madonna’s for posterity and share them with all your friends. This will be a great feature for those that can actually pull it off, but mine would end up being a series of clips of my skater smashing into walls and being thrown off the board, breaking every bone in his virtual body. On second thought, with the right music, that could be really cool…
Comic Con 07: Valkyrie Profile Lenneth Figure
On the Comic Con floor, Square Enix rolled out the first of the merchandise that will be soon be available on their upcoming U.S. online store, some for sale, some for preview. There were plenty of Kingdom Hearts figures to be seen and of course, any Final Fantasy character you could think of ranging in price from fairly cheap to you-better-take-out-a-bank-loan. This particular one from Valkyrie Profile really caught my eye because of the amount of detail involved. It’s not just a figure, it’s an entire scene. Something about the ones like this always make me giddy. I certainly could never afford it and I’m not even sure that it’s something I’d particularly want to own, but it sure is pretty to look at.
The Race Is On: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Scans
Website TrueGaming has posted a bunch of scans from Famitsu magazine showing off details and pics from the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. I’m not a big racing game guy myself, but even I know quality work when I see it and these screens look stunning. Gran Turismo fans will certainly have plenty to ooh and ah over. True Gaming has a total of five pages scanned in rather large sizes. They don’t have a gallery up as such, so just scroll about halfway down and look in the right column for the GT scans.

Gentetic Mutation: BioShock Gameplay VIdeo (Now with More Ken Levine)
What would a weekend be without a slavishly devoted fanboy style post by me concerning BioShock? A new gameplay video has floated to the surface and is currently being hosted by GameSpot. Creator Ken Levine is on hand to talk more about the genetically mutating plasmids and the inner workings of Rapture.
I had the distinct pleasure of being shown BioShock by Mr. Levine himself and I must say it was the highlight of my entire E3. Being on Major Nelson’s podcast and interviewing the great Sir Peter Molyneux were definite close seconds, but being the BioShock devotee that I am, Ken Levine wins the big prize.
As you may or may not have read in my last weekend’s note to Ash, I will be attending the BioShock launch party taking place in Boston next month so I’ll be sure to grab some pictures and bring you all the details as they happen.
We Make Holes In Teeth: The Banjo Kazooie Cake Makes My Teeth Hurt
Kotakuite MrMessyHair (my new favorite handle) sends in this Banjo Kazooie cake lovingly crafted by hand by his sister for his birthday. It took a few minutes for my bleary mind to wrap itself around what it was seeing, but once it did it was awesome. It was kind of like looking at one of those pictures that is all dots until you look past it and then you see the clipper ship. Well done, especially for a hand made job, but all that sparkly sugar makes me want to go brush my teeth at least three times.
Comic Con 07: Counter-Counter-Point: What Makes Good Cosplay
Yesterday I posted what I thought to be the best game related cosplay at Comic Con, which were the awesome Lego Star Wars costumes. Later in the day my esteemed colleague Mr. Mc Whertor posted an image of these booth babes dressed as a pirate and a gorgon. While I agree that these are both fine costumes, I must respectfully disagree with his assessment of them being the best cosplay. These ladies, lovely as they may be, were being paid to appear at the event in costumes that while they may be nice, were provided to them by Sony Online and were made professionally. In my mind, true cosplay is created by dedicated fans with a lot of hard work and done for the love of of costuming and not for a paycheck. So bearing that in mind I still stick with my original vote and say that costumed booth babes may be nice to look at, but cosplay is for the fans. Feel free to argue this point ad nauseum in the comments.
Price Drop: Toys “R” Us Jumps on the 360 Price Drop Bandwagon

The notorious Cheapy D brings even more proof that the rumored Xbox 360 price drop is indeed for real. Yesterday he had a Wal-mart ad showing the cut and now he has procured another (blurry) photo of an ad showing the 360 being priced at $349. This time the ad is from Toys R Us stating a “price break” and slated for an August 12 street date. As more and more information comes in it’s becoming more difficult to brand this one as rumor, but of course without an official word from Microsoft on the subject it will have to remain as such. Still, I think we all know what’s coming…

Comic Con 07: The Gametap Yacht Party
Friday night I had the good fortune to be invited to Gametap’s Comic Con party which took place on a very nice yacht docked behind the San Diego Convention center. Gametap, of course, is the online game download service that works along the lines of XBLA or the Virtual Console except you pay a monthly fee and you can download any of their library of games at any time. Their booth at Comic Con featured some stations with the service plus a big push for their new project, ReVisioned which features popular game franchises re-imagined by various famous illustrators and animators.
The party was set for 7:30 and as I arrived I was greeted by the ship’s captain and soon after, a waitress bearing a tray of drinks all in Gametap’s colors of orange, green and blue. I chose one of the orange concoctions and made my way to the upper decks. There was a terrific spread of food and a DJ spinning some fun tunes and after stuffing my face I went outside to enjoy being on the water. After about an hour at the dock, the ship finally set sail for an two hour cruise around San Diego Bay. It was great fun and being on the open water was quite a relaxing break from the crush of the Comic Con floor.
Gametap certainly knows how top throw a soiree and I look forward to seeing how their service progresses over the next year. With new games every week including rarities like Neo Geo titles as well as getting some games the same day they hit retail, they will be quite a force to be reckoned with, especially for those who prefer PC gaming to the expensive world of consoles.
It’s Jello: The Metroid Jello Thing
We’ve seen plenty of game cakes here at Kotaku to the delight of some (me) and the chagrin of others (luke). Some have been great and some have just plain sucked. Now it seems the n ew medium is jello. A while back we had a jello DS and now it is my honor to bring you the Jello metroid. Cleverly created by Claire Barry, she of Kittybot fame, it looks to be made from lime jello, strawberries and those weird gummy things with the white creamy bottom. Mmmmmmmetroid!
[Thanks, Jeff]
Comic Con 07: Best Game Related Cosplay

I just got back from roaming the Comic Con floor, saying hello to Gabe and Tycho from Penny Arcade and the guys from Red vs. Blue when i noticed an odd phenomenon There seems to be a surprising lack of cos-play at this year’s event, not that there isn’t any, but certainly not as much as I was expecting, even with my buddy David and I adding to the fray as The Venture Bros. In our journeys so far we’ve ran into two Dr. Girlfriends, The Monarch, Dr. Venture and The Manic Eight Ball . (embarrassing photos to follow)
But when I saw these awesome Lego Star Wars costumes, they instantly won my heart and I hereby award them Best in Show.
Go, Big Daddy: Life Size Big Daddy Spotted In The Wild

Kotakuite Tezze sends in this amazing snapshot from UK store, GAME in London. In case you’ve been under a rock or never read any of by fanboyish, drooling posts about the game, what you are looking at is a life-size statue of a Big Daddy, one of the main boss characters in the upcoming spooky underwater art deco FPS, BioShock. Now, I wonder how big of a coat I would need to smuggle that out of the store…
Price Drop: Wal-mart Ad Shows 360 Price Drop
The interwebs are a-buzz with the posting of a blurry image of a Wal-mart circular that shows a $50 price drop on the Xbox 360 taking it down to $349. It’s unclear as of yet if this is an across the board cut for all three SKU’s, bringing truth to the price cut rumors that have been floating around, or merely some kind of one timeWal-mart sale. But, we can all cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Comic Con: Kratos, Croft and Creed
NECA doesn’t just make crappy Castlevania figures, they also have a large assortment of some pretty amazing work as well. This shelf was particularly impressive featuring her ladyship Lara Croft, the soon to be released Assassin from Assassin’s Creed and of course, taking center stage, God of War’s Kratos in his Ares armor. Unfortunately, this photo doesn’t half do these pieces of art justice, but trust me when I say that live and in person they are some of the most finely detailed statues I’ve seen on the show floor.
Oh yeah, Did I mention I was at comic Con?
Clip: Loco Roco 2 Trailer
It’s not the greatest video given that some saucy knave filmed this off the screen at the Develop Conference, but there’s is enough to get really excited about as we once again return to the land of Loco Roco. This trailer for Loco Roco 2 looks just as cute, adorable and infectious as the original game and we are treated to the always uplifting theme song again. Soon, your PSP will once again be filled with the cutest singing blobs this side of …well, anywhere.
