Preview: Alone in the Dark
Clenching loosely to its survival-horror roots, the new Alone in the Dark is much more action-oriented than the series’ past games. Take, for example, our recent look at the game where protagonist Edward Carnby races a taxicab through the rippling streets of a New York City that’s tearing apart at the seams-like Cloverfield minus the Godzilla-like beastie.

Review: Mysterious Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer
I never really pinned myself as someone who could do roguelikes. Nethack always struck me as rather bewildering, but maybe it was just the cryptic @ symbolizing my existence and the fact that nearly every other character on the keyboard was out to get me. Call me a noob! Fortunately, for the roguelike-curious, Mysterious Dungeon titles are friendly and fun.
Review: Puchi Puchi Virus
What the hell’s a Puchirus? The virus has turned the “dull but kind” inhabitants of a “quaint planet much like Earth” into “wild, aptly named creatures.” Fortunately, Doctor Keven A. Longfellow has developed the Puchi Buster DS, which cures patients with “high doses of pure awesome.” It sounds like a game scenario an eight year old would come up with, but for that very reason, Puch Puchi Virus sort of rocks.

The game’s successor, Ring of Fates, also differentiates itself from the series proper by breaking new ground with the DS’s touchpad but it still upholds Square’s rigorous artistic standards.
Review: Nanostray 2
If the original Nanostray left you floating in deep space with its tacked-on touch controls, absentee story and unlimited continues, Shin’en has heard your distress call. Nanostray 2 corrects all of these problems while maintaining the gorgeous production values we’ve come to expect from the original DS game and Iridion GBA titles.
