Subject: Getting Older
Tomorrow is my son's fourth birthday. At this time four years ago, my wife promised to make nikujaga. Her water broke at around 11:30pm Japan time, and we rushed her to the hospital. The following morning (tomorrow), she gave birth to Mini Bash. She never made nikujaga, but did exactly one year later and has every year since on his birthday.
I was present at my son's birth. In the actual delivery room, which freaked me out slightly. No, it really freaked me out. During the delivery, the doctor actually told me to say something to Mrs. Bashcraft. I just kinda stood there, mouth gapping in awe of my wife and of mankind.
