This Day in Gaming, March 27th

coverSOF1984dec.jpg2000: Activision releases Soldier of Fortune for PC in the US. It's a game based upon the magazine going by the same name. Wikipedia really sums up the publication better than I ever could:

SOF is read by some serving soldiers and veterans. Critics claim that the magazine's audience also includes many "wanna-bes."

2001
: Microsoft throws a conference to pitch Japanese developers on producing games for the Xbox. Critics claim that the presentation went something likes this: "Pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaaassssssseeeee make us games. Plllleeeeeaaaaaasssssseeee!! We'll give you as many Hello Kitty backpacks as you can carry."
