WallSkinz: Like Posters, Only More Expensive
Touting their products as "Serious Artwork for Serious Gamers", WallSkinz launches a brand new line of super-glossy, high-resolution wall art featuring scenes, maps, and characters from pc and console games. Much like the ads you might have caught on TV for Fathead sports-themed decals, WallSkinz adhere to your wall like a sticker, only without leaving any sticky residue when your girlfriend or wife tells you to take that damn thing off of her living room wall this instant.
The site features a rather odd variety of games, mixing classics like Pirates and Civilization with games that didn't fare so well, like Advent Rising (which I loved, dammit) and Planetside. I'm not sure there is anyone out there willing to spend $50 - $100 to declare their love for Planetside, and if I am wrong I fear that person greatly.
Maybe you'll find something that strikes your fancy at their site, but I don't know. I guess I would just expect something better than a glorified poster for that amount of money. A large character cutout or something, which is what I thought they were announcing when I first read the press release below. Would you buy one of these?

Vibrant, New WallSkinz Graphic Artwork Sticks Around After the Game is Over
NEW YORK - February 8, 2007 - High-resolution graphic artwork with images from awesome new as well as classic PC/console games, is being introduced by Wallskinz www.wallskinz.com for game fans who are so passionate about their favorite titles that they want them on their walls - even after gameplay is over.
The initial online catalog is being launched with dozens of vivid, realistic, almost lifelike reproductions depicting characters, maps, screens and box art. Titles available include Civilization IV, the must have Pirates!, the epic Advent Rising, the fast-paced Bloodrayne, the ubiquitous Everquest: The Serpent's Spine and Everquest II. New to the ever growing library are Silent Hill and Rumble Roses XX. Some of the biggest publishers in gaming - such as Sony Online Entertainment, Majesco, 2K Games, and Konami - are providing unique and collectible images, many of which have never been seen before.
WallSkinz was founded by a group of avid gamers, with combined experience in digital imaging reproduction and printing, who developed a proprietary process to create super glossy, high-resolution wall art with removable adhesive-backed material. The result is stunning artwork with a high gloss laminate that lends incredible vibrancy and "pop" to every image. Also, Wallskinz won't fade or scratch like paper-based artwork. And when you are ready for a change simply peel the Wallskinz off the wall. That's all it takes. No holes, no residue, no mess.
"Wallskinz is serious graphic art for serious gamers who enjoy seeing their favorite characters and scenes in their living rooms, gaming rooms, or office" explains, Len Stavis, president. "This eye-catching, graphic artwork is a great gift for avid gamers who will marvel at how we've been able to transfer their favorite characters from the screen to their wall. Our greatest endorsement may be that many of the game developers themselves have ordered these 4 ft. wall hangings for their homes and offices!"
WallSkinz are available in three different sizes by length; 2 ft. ($49.99); 3 ft. ($69.99); and 4 ft. ($99.99) plus postage and handling. Sizes vary slightly depending on the specific artwork. www.wallskinz.com
