MOTORSTORM: Western MotorStorm Still A Little Thin

When MotorStorm shipped in Japan looking a little malnourished, round-eyes just shrugged and assumed that the Western release would be the real deal.

Not so, if Evolution's Matt Southern and Scott Kirkland are to be believed. Answering some reader questions in Edge's new "You Interview" section (where the great unwashed are given the privilege of firing questions at developers), they seem to suggest that the Western MotorStorm isn't going to be much more substantial than the Japanese one.

When asked about the differences between the Japanese and Western versions, the two replied:

Matt Southern: There will be enhancements, but many will be 'under the hood'. A lot of the changes for the US and Europe are legal or even cultural - things like the gestures are specific to each territory and their respective age rating guidelines.

SK: Development effort between Japanese and US/European releases has been focused primarily on the provision MotorStorm's online mode.

So there's online mode and "authentic" (I guess Italians do that flick-hand-under-chin thing) driver "gestures". And...that's it? I know it's an arcade racer, but that still leaves the game mode cupboard a little bare.
