December 5th Is The Day Of The Ninja
We normally wouldn't be able to post about a ninja-related holiday due to Crecente's being a high-profile pirate, but he has graciously allowed me to remind you about December 5th, the Day of the Ninja, in exchange for having his family returned safely. The Day of the Ninja is like Talk Like a Pirate Day, only we don't talk like idiots. Or at all, in fact. Just sweet, festive, deadly silence. And we have both eyes. Sometimes more than both.
Ninja have been part of video gaming from day one. In the latter days of gaming as graphics became more of a focus, portrayal of ninja grew less accurate. You can actually see Shinobi, which is a gross historical inaccuracy. Ryu Hayabusa can be defeated, in the right hands, by a professional wrestler. Not good. The most successful rendition of a Ninja in a video game was in the arcade classic Pong, where a ninja you couldn't detect whatsoever subtly moved your paddle just enough to make you miss the ball and possibly die.
