Gears of War On PC Rumor “Debunked”
We got the photo to the right from reader Bob a few weeks ago, but didn't run with it. It sounded a little suspect. Gears of War on PC confirmation from a Games For Windows promo image printed in PC Gamer? Nah.
Then I remembered that all Microsoft rumors are true! Still, we didn't run with it, but other folks did. Now, the chatter has gotten Microsoft to finally comment on it.
They say it's not happening. So what's up with that pic? Gamerscore Blog explains:
* Yes, Microsoft provided the image that is published in the Games for Windows cover story in the Holiday issue of PC Gamer magazine.
* Yes, this image contains what looks to be box shots of Gears of War with the Games for Windows branding bar on the box art.
* NO, this is not a confirmation, leak, tease, or sly viral attempt to announce, confirm, or admit that Gears of War will be published for Windows.
Okay, guys, WHATEVER! I'll still wager one copy of Kabuki Warriors that we'll see a Gears of War announcement for PC sometime in 2007. Wait, make that 2008.
