Rumor: Wii Pre-Orders Start Friday?
We've received a number of tips that GameStop is going to start taking pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii by the end of the week. Despite the incessant rumors, neither my Gamestop nor my Nintendo tipsters could confirm this. In fact, one of my better tipsters told me that no word has yet been passed on from Nintendo to Gamestop about how many Wiis they will be getting for launch, which would make setting pre-order numbers sort of difficult.
While The Wiire is reporting GameStop has announced plans to start Wii pre-orders on Friday, a GameStop vice president told me yesterday that they have not yet set the plans for Wii pre-orders. So there you have it, I suppose it's possible, but we probably won't know until Thursday night.
