Game Crazy Internal Training Vid Off Hook, For My Dawgs, Tha Bomb
Ho boy. Someone really needs to put together a library of internal-only instructional training videos for retail employees. These things are comedy gold. But this one? Little uncomfortable. While I appreciate the attempts at ironic humor, I hate ironic humor, making me hate this video.
On the other hand, if only game specialist retail employees could be this courteous and well-informed. Sales charts would see at least some degree of justice, while millions of our nation’s children would never have to schlep through licensed game sewage like The Ant Bully or the dozens of Dragon Ball Z games released each year.

Torokun’s Awesome Metroid Fan Art

I’m just going to shut up and let Torokun’s awesome Samus Aran artwork speak for itself. Aww, who am I kidding? I love to hear myself talk and love to read what I write. I’m just that egocentric! After reading about my penchant for the Metroid heroine’s delicious space booty and somehow avoiding total disgust, he passed on a link to his deviantart gallery with the above, white-hot fanart.
Poking around the gallery led to me to more awesome video game inspired pieces by James, including this other shot of the blonde bounty hunter and this fantastic Katamari/Evangelion mecha mash-up. I’ll be keeping my eye on future pieces from the artist.
A larger, wallpaper appropriate version of the intro pic is available here for your downloading and ogling pleasure.
Thanks for the heads up, James. And keep up the good work.
Source Forts Trailer Hits Steam

The Half-Life 2 Deathmatch mod Source Forts has a new trailer, one that Steam subscribers can now download for free. You know, to see if this whole build a fort, capture the flag gameplay is for you.
For those of you not in the know, the game pits Half-Life 2 rebels against Combine soldiers in deathmatch play. The kicker? Each round starts with a “build phase”, within which players can use the infamous gravity gun to set up a series of planks to build bridges, ramps, walls, and other structures on a fairly plain map. Then “combat phase” begins and you shoot stuff, obviously.
The newest revision of the freely downloadable mod was released to the public just this week, so do check it, and the trailer, out.
IGN: Mario Strikers sequel to hit Wii
Filed under: Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii, Sports

IGN is reporting that sources close to Nintendo of Europe are claiming a sequel to the GameCube original Super Mario Strikers is not only already underway but will be revealed at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany.
Considering the success of the original and tendency of Nintendo to take advantage of successful franchises, this would seem like a no brainer. The best part is that hopefully with an online Wii, we can get some multiplayer Strikers.

Nintendo denies Space World, speculates on Mario at launch
Filed under: Nintendo Wii
There is no Space World planned for 2006, according to Nintendo of America PR Manager Matt Atwood. The confirmation, told to Advanced Media Network, dispels some speculation as to when Nintendo would announce the Wii’s launch details. As there is no Space World, and no one from Nintendo speaking at the Tokyo Games Show, the likely location for launch announcements will be at the Leipzig Games Convention during the August 23 “Wii Prove our Promise” presentation.
As goes Nintendo’s modus operandi, the secretive company cannot destroy a rumor without spawning a replacement. Atwood also told AMN that, since the official launch lineup has not been announced, Super Mario Galaxy might still make launch lineup.
“Anything is possible,” he said. That is not a confirmation by any stretch of the imagination, but just enough to tantalize the masses. O, Nintendo, why must you torment us so?

WoW joins emo kids on MySpace
Filed under: Culture, Mac, PC, Online, RPGs, MMO, Business
If you just so happen to be a MySpace and World of Warcraft addict, then this is your lucky day. Blizzard has established their very own MySpace page dedicated to the most popular MMO round these parts.
There are few cool features on the page, including buddy icons, trailers, art, and that kick-ass WoW theme music. It’s a pretty cool looking site, and there’s just something about that music that feels oh so very soothing.
