The Colgate 360 Tooth Brush
Welcome to next-gen teeth brushing. Taking cues from Microsoft apparently, Colgate’s latest brush is called the “360″. While the name refers to flipping the brush over, it does come in Xbox 360 lime green. Does this mean folks need to line-sit at the local drugstore?

Gaming Leads to Crazy Thumbs
![]()
According to CNET News, mother Mitali Perkins worries that gaming is ruining her children’s hands. “The boys can bend their thumbs all the way back to their forearms, and they constantly stretch and crack their knuckles with ease,” reports CNET. “For tasks like ringing a doorbell, dialing a phone number and changing the remote, they use their thumbs.” The lucky bastards children own three computers, two Sony PlayStations, a Nintendo GameCube and a Microsoft Xbox. And now, the mother is worried about arthritis, not to mention crazy thumbs.
Geez…
The article is actually about repetitive stress injuries in children (a worthy topic). And certainly, using tech can physically effect someone’s body (just ask Crecente). However, the article’s intro seems poised to blame video games for yet something else. It doesn’t really do that per se, and maybe I’m just being defensive. Maybe.

DS Lite American Street Date Broken! On Sale! Now!! Like, Buy It!!!
A moderator over at Cheap Ass Gamer stumbled across a mother-load of DS Lites at an American Target retailer. Not wanting to alert the cashier that the Lites shouldn’t go on sale until June 11th, he asked if he could buy the portable. “Sure, enough,” he writes, “they are selling them early.” The receipt simply says “Nintendo DS” with no indication of it being a Lite.
Other CAGs report that the same is happening at other Targets and Walmart outlets. Chalk it up to not knowing any better, these stores continue to shift product. Whether it is a nationwide thing, isn’t known—this could be several isolated incidents. Some US launch, huh?

UK sales charts, May 21-27: Hitman hits the spot
Filed under: Business
With the World Cup due to kick off in under a fortnight, UK consumers are doing the obvious thing — and buying Hitman: Blood Money. The football-themed titles are still strong in the charts, but Eidos’ Agent 47 has overtaken them in its first week of release. The recent Sims 2 expansion keeps the original fresh, too.

Storm your shops! DS Lite street date broken [update 2]

Several CAGs have reported finding DS Lites — which aren’t scheduled to be on store shelves in North America for another eleven days — at local big-boxes Target and Wal-Mart. Cheap Ass moderator Trakan said his local Target had a “shitload” in stock and they weren’t equivocal about selling ‘em, street date be damned!
Anyone in the Joystiq nation manage to grab a DS Lite early? Any retail employees want to let us know if your store’s already got these out? Feel free to post your successes (or failures) in the comments as a service to other readers … especially if you’re near me in the Philadelphia area.
(Update 1: All right kids, Joystiq reader Jake had the common sense to use this thing called “the internet” to come up with a better solution than us just posting our successes willy-nilly. The solution: Frappr. He’s gotten us started; the Brier Creek Target in Raleigh, NC was a negatory as of 11am this morn’.)
(Update 2: Updated the image to sate those who won’t believe it if they can’t see it. Image from elliothtz’s Flickr site. Redirected image and “Read” link to Frappr page to help aggregate this data.)

Warp Music with Artsy Game
Pixel Sumo writes about a new music game that made an appearance at the Cybersonica 06 Sonic Art Exhibition. The Schizoporotica is a sort of moden age music box. The device plays music from a set list, but users can modify the pitches of the melody being played by tearing out pieces of a specially printed ticket and feeding it into the machine. If it weren’t for the mess, I’d say this Troika-designed device would be perfect for installation in an arcade.

Fox News Starts Covering Games
Fox News has launched a Video Gaming section to its web site. Hey, just what gamers have long been waiting for: the same sort of fair and balanced reporting at which Fox News excels applied to video games!
The news is all pretty old by the standards of gaming ‘journalism’. You know, like two weeks. But given the dusty curmudgeons who have driven mainstream news into the ground, it actually is a respectable attempt at congregating all Fox News’ content that touches upon gaming. We wonder if more news network will follow suit.

I think we — gamers as a whole — have a problem. We’re fascinated … nay, obsessed with dimensions: height, depth, width, mass. Me, I have a certain thing for cubic volume and density.
We blogged about this chart last December, but seeing as how the charts been updated with the PS3’s final dimensions, we thought you’d all like need to know. It looks like the Wii’s dimensions are still inaccurate; check out 4cr’s helpful resize job for (what appears to be) a more accurate model.
